In line with the vision of the rulers of the country concerning food security, Emirates National Aquaculture (ENA) was established with an objective to bridge the gap between seafood supply and demand in the UAE. ENA, under the Leadership of Mr. Imtiaz Kalsekar, a nurtured businessman with more than 4 decades of successfully running a conglomerate in the UAE, has taken the initiative to lead the organisation on its path to becoming a leading aquaculture production centre in UAE

ENA keeping the sustainability as a focus ventured into production of proven sustainable species like Mediterranean Sea Bream and White leg Shrimps (Vannamei).

Emirates National Aquaculture has its own operating farm in Dibba Al-Fujairah, and by the Q1 of 2023 will have its Shrimps RAS farm at Jabal Ali Free Zone Area (JAFZA).

Prime Aquaculture FZE, a subsidiary of Emirates National Aquaculture LLC, signed an MoU with Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) to build the region’s first Shrimp RAS farm. The innovative marine shrimp farm, expected to be completed by Q1 2023, will aid in the cultivation of marine shrimp and significantly increase output in the UAE to meet the increasing demand.

The MOU was signed by Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director, DP World UAE & Jafza, and Imtiyaz Abdul Razak Kalsekar, Managing Director of Prime Aquaculture FZE.

The facility will include a shrimp farm, hatchery, and primary and secondary processing units. While driving sustainable food production in the UAE, the farm is also poised to meet the objectives of the UAE’s National Food Security Strategy 2051, enabling sustainable food production by using modern technologies and solutions.
